The purpose of the travel was to present a talk entitled “Wet Roots? High resolution groundwater depth prediction in the Bourke Irrigation District” at the 9th international River Symposium in Brisbane.

Groundwater, under the right conditions can be of benefit to plants. For example, cotton can derive substantial water from groundwater at depths of around 2.6m (Wanender et al 1979).
