Fibre elongation contributes directly to yarn elongation and toughness, which are important particularly in fine count yarn spinning and realised yarn quality.

To promote Australian Long Staple Cotton (ALS) large-scale spinning trials were carried out in China in late 2010 using Sicala 340BRF. Six major mills in China participated in the trials.
Cottonspec, a spinning prediction software, has proven a useful management tool, giving spinners immediate feedback on the fibre quality they use. The program gives excellent predictions of yarn quality.
