RENAISSANCE ON LANARK
Date Issued:1999-03-01
Abstract
Something remarkable has occurred on Lanark, in the undulating basalt country of Victoria's Western District, south-west of Branxholme. In little more than four decades its owners, John and Cicely Fenton, and their family, have transformed their once-ravaged sheep property. Through the diversification of traditional grazing and cropping with large-scale farm forestry, and the restoration of natural habitat, they have demonstrated that it is possible to develop systems of farming that are both more ecologically and agriculturally sustainable.
